Full Course: Xiao Hong Quan

Learn Xiao Hong Quan, the “mother” of all Shaolin styles, in this detailed course outlining all the fundamental skills and principles in this forms, up to the smallest details such as hand and foot postures.

Emphasis is placed on the correct Shenfa – Movement method, and the form is shown the way it must be practiced in order to best develop the skills associated with this form (Compression and expansion, ground connection, and correct techniques and postures)

Although the Xiao Hong Quan form is developed for skill-building, it has interesting combat applications, which are shown at the end of each section.

Introduction by master Hu

Master Hu, who oversaw the filming of this project, filmed the introduction and gave us detailed instructions on how to best structure this form for online teaching. He also provides writings written by himself and by his teachers for giving us historical knowledge and understanding of the form, beyond the physical movements.

Form walkthrough with Yang Xinhui

One of master Hu’s top disciples, Yang Xinhui, demonstrates the form in this tutorial. He is known for his attention to detail and he has been teaching foreign disciples for master Hu for more than a decade.
