About Hu Zhengsheng 胡正生

Master Hu Zhengsheng became a student of Zhang Guangjun – the late weapon master of the Shaolin Temple – and later became a disciple of Xinyiba master Yang Guiwu, who had learned in person from Wu Shanlin and Shi Degen – two of the past century’s most influential figures in Shaolin Kung Fu’s history.

His teachings represent the true tradition that has been passed down for centuries before the era of Wu Gulun, in the southern and western courtyard of the Shaolin Temple. He has appeared in a variety of documentaries, including Gong Fu Shaolin and The Shaolin Heritage.

About the online academy

The Shaolin Xinyiba online academy is the result of nearly 5 years of work on our part, and includes the results of our research, translation and transcription work, as well as unreleased video content from as far back as 2012. We are delighted to finally make this page public and give access to the entire world to these precious traditional Shaolin teachings.

Master Hu and his team started this project in 2020, during the covid pandemic, in order to be able to share our teachings even when international travel is restricted. Consequently, we aim for the tutorials of this site to be very detailed, and of the highest quality, so that we may preserve and pass on our knowledge without the need for students to learn mandarin and travel to China.

Our mission

Our purpose is to elevate the international standard of Shaolin Kung Fu and foster a new generation of highly skilled traditional Shaolin practitioners.

Traditional Shaolin boxing embodies a rich heritage and profound legacy that has endured for centuries. Unlike modern Wushu and modernized Shaolin forms, which prioritize aesthetics, and Sanda, which is tailored for the ring, traditional Shaolin Kung Fu is a lifelong journey, fit for long-term practice.

It consists of embodying deep, natural principles, fully mastering the mind and the body, and applying its techniques in combat, both armed and unarmed. The movements are meticulously designed to build skills efficiently and unlock powerful combat potential.

In the last two decades, Hu Zhengsheng has become renowned for his research in traditional Shaolin boxing and Xinyiba. He has dedicated many years to studying, transcribing, and analyzing ancient Qing dynasty manuscripts passed down by his teacher, Yang Guiwu. These manuscripts, along with the knowledge and skills learned from his teacher, are deeply integrated into the courses taught on this site.

We offer a selection of high-quality tutorials, sharing the authentic and well-preserved teachings of our lineage with the world. Through these courses, we strive to uphold and disseminate the timeless wisdom and unparalleled excellence of traditional Shaolin Kung Fu.
